Expressionism Art

Expressionism art is a type of art that displays the artists mood through colors and contrast of the painting. It started in the mid-20th century, and turned into more of an abstract art.

These paintings to me symbolize pride honor, or courage. The lady to the left has a slight smile and is making direct eye contact. She has peace in her eyes that the blue brings out really well. The dog on the right has his head held high and has very peaceful colors going through it. It gives me the sense of releif.
The first picture with the five characters has dark colors, they have no eyes and some of them seem to be evil. This painting gives me a sense of fear and dispare. The painting in the middle gives me mixed emotions or almost has no emotion at all. The man isnt smiling or frowing and he is carrying two picture frames. He has dark eye circles and some crazy rug like hair. You would think with the crazy background he would be a little more happy, but he looks like he is annoyed with these picture frames. The last picture has a few famous paintings all in one. The first one is mona lisa smile the other one is starry night. This picture is all around happy, peaceful, and exciting.

Environmental Art

'The term "environmental art" often encompasses "ecological" concerns but is not specific to them. It acknowledges the early history of this movement (which was often more about art ideas than environmental ones) as well as art with more activist concerns and art which primarily celebrates an artist's connection with nature using natural materials.

The term "environmental art" is used in a variety of different contexts: it can be used to refer to art describing the natural world, art that celebrates personal engagement with the natural world ("art in nature"), and to the practices of ecological artists, whose work directly addresses environmental issues through educating people about the natural world, or intervening in and restoring the natural world. Ecological artist, Aviva Rahmani believes that "Ecological Art is an art practice, often in collaboration with scientists, city planners, architects and others, that results in direct intervention in environmental degradation. Often, the artist is the lead agent in that practice."

The media and activities used by environmental artists are incredibly diverse, including painting, photography, performance art, politically activist events, experiments with light and sound, sculpture, eco-feminism, creation of large earth-based installations ("earthworks", "land art"), architectural installations, and scientific inventions. Scientific information frequently inspires or is incorporated into such works.

This picture is taken in a large city. You can find things like this on the sides of buildings or walking down the sidewalks.

You can also find these in the wilderness. Many people make this type of art for fun and some try to provide a message to people everywhere, or raise awareness.

Underwater Environmental Art

In 2006, Taylor founded and created the world’s first underwater sculpture park. Situated off the west coast of Grenada in the West Indies it is now listed as one of the Top 25 Wonders of the World by National Geographic and was instrumental in the creation of a National Marine Protected Area by the local Government. Following on in 2009 he co-founded MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte), a monumental museum with a collection of over 500 of his sculptural works, submerged off the coast of Cancun, Mexico; described by Forbes as one of the world’s most unique travel destinations. Both these ambitious, permanent public works have a practical, functional aspect, facilitating positive interactions between people and fragile underwater habitats while at the same relieving pressure on natural resources.

Pop Art

"Pop is everything art hasn't been for the last two decades. It's basically a U-turn back to a representational visual communication, moving at a break-away speed...Pop is a re-enlistment in the world...It is the American Dream, optimistic, generous and naïve." - Roy Lichtenstein

Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop art presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular culture such as advertising, news, etc.

You can see alot of pop art in comic books!

Hard Edge

Hard-edge painting is known for its economy of form, fullness of color, impersonal execution, and smooth surface planes. The term "hard-edge abstraction" was devised by Californian art critic Jules Langsner, and was initially intended to title a 1959 exhibition that included four West Coast artists - Karl Benjamin, John McLaughlin, Frederick Hammersley andLorser Feitelson. Although, later, the style was often referred to as "California hard-edge," and these four artists became synonymous with the movement, Langsner eventually decided to title the show Four Abstract Classicists (1959), as he felt that the style marked a classical turn away from the romanticism of Abstract Expressionism.

Hard-edge painting can either be abstract with an illusion effect

Or hard edge could be a person...hard-edge can also relate a lot to pop art. Here are some examples. This hard uses bright colors and mostly straight lines

Graffiti

Graffiti is a freestyle art that is often found on bridges, sides of buildings, on trains, or basically anywhere in public. Graffiti is very creative art that uses bubble letters and anything to relay a message using spray paint.

This picture speaks louder than words can....Most graffiti art relays a message like this picture..others can just simply express art itself.

Most of the time this is the type of Graffiti you will most likely see around your area or one the sides of structures like buildings and bridges

This kind of Grafitti is more complex and uses alot of paint! Its also important to wear a mask to prevent from inhaling to much chemicals. It takes alot of practice to get this certain soft look to the painting but is very rewarding

Folk Art

Folk art encompasses art produced from an indigenous culture or by peasants or other laboring tradespeople. In contrast to fine art, folk art is primarily utilitarian and decorative rather than purely aesthetic.

In these three pictures you see mostly tress, houses, leafs, anything nature like. In the last picture it is a farmer selling goods or food to make a living, back then most things where made by hand and nature was really all we had. Thats why this type of art stands for our country and reminds us of simpler times with creative nature paintings.

Sculpture

Sculpture is another way to create art. You can use clay, rock, ice, or concrete. Ceramics is one way of sculpting clay to make art. There are many different types of clay that you can use the most common is earthenware. This clay is used for basic sculpting and firing techniques. When the sculpting process is complete the next step is for the piece to be fired in a kiln at 350 degrees Celsius. When this process is complete you can then decide if you want to keep the piece naked, or add a glaze or paint to the piece.

Another type of sculpture is ice sculptures. These can be more tricky to pull off. To do this kind of sculpture you need to be very patient and accurate. Usually ice sculptures are created for important events or gatherings such as weddings. Ice sculptures can be created by using a mallet and chisel..or hand held tools like saws and drills.

You can also use rock or concrete like these famous sculptures

My Paintings

My Favorite type of paint to use is acrylic. It drys very fast and it is easy to mix colors.
Here are some of my paintings that Ive done over the years.

These three pictures are pictures I painted on my wall at my house. The first one is Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. As you can see in the picture, this painting is incomplete. The second picture is a sun and moon that one of my very good friends helped me paint. The last one was one of my many favorites to paint. It took a few months but was so worth it! Sublime is one of my most favorite bands and this peice was so fun to paint.

These paintings where inspired by my favorite things! I love dream catchers, Old cars, Grateful Dead, Octopus, and space. I would be interested in selling some of my paintings for the right price. Most of my paintings have a close connection with me. I would say my style of painting is anything random, trippy, or just beautiful. I have a fun but rustic taste in art.

This painting is what makes this hobby worth it. I painted this for my boyfriends moms friend who has cancer. She put this painting in an auction to raise money for her hospital bills. I love the fact that  I can paint something so beautiful and help people in need. This makes my dream come alive and I would be more than happy to do this again for anyone!!

Different kinds of Paints

There are many different types of art and ways to create it. Paintings and drawings can be art, and also sculptures or even random pieces of garbage can be considered art to some people. The first type and one of my favorites are painting!! There are many types of paints you can use for your artwork.
The first type and one of the most popular kinds is acrylic. Acrylic paints are easier to work with. Acrylic paintings can sometimes resemble oil paint and water color paintings. This kind of paint can be mixed with water

Another kind of paint you can use are oil paints. Oil paints are an oil based paint that are used for more realistic paintings. Most oil paintings have a lot of details and realistic features.

Water colors can also be very easy to use. There are many different techniques and ways you can paint with water. One way is using just regular watercolor paints by adding water to the pallet. Or you can make a design in the water with Acrylic paints. When you are finished with the design you can take anything you want and transfer the paint by sticking the piece in the water.  The surface of whatever you are transferring the piece to has to be prepared with mordant, an alum solution. Many people use this technique for customizing car pieces, helmets, guitars and really anything!

Ancient Art

Art is a large range of many. There are many types of art and many ways to create it. Some of the different ways to create art may be through painting, drawing, sculpting. photography, and even by putting random garbage together and tattoos are considered art. Art varies with different cultures and techniques. Anything can be considered art as long as it has a story behind it or a meaning behind it. Art has existed for billions of years. We get most of our knowledge about our history though ancient depictions of woolly mammoths Indians and ancient Egyptians. Without art the Earth is just "eh"

In this picture their are two ancient Pharaohs...in their arms seem to be a smaller human. These pictures tell a story. To me this story looks like the ancient Egyptians where visited by aliens. It looks as if the aliens are helping to Pharaohs with things that our mind cant comprehend. without pictures like these we wouldn't know anything about this time period.

Native Americans also used art to tell their story. Their struggle for survival, hunting animals, and the weapons they used are shown throughout these images. A lot of stories can be told through ancient art. If it wasn't for most of this art today, we wouldn't be so sure as to what happened in these time periods, or what methods they used to survive. In this kind of art, you also see mythological creatures and and animals that don't look like the animals we have today
